When we first met Miss C, she was only booked in for a routine eye examination simply because her brother was having an eye test. No one suspected that she might have an eye problem.
Much to both mum’s, mine and Miss C’s surprise, her right eye was totally blurred. She could not see even the big E.
This can be called a lazy eye.
Also known as amblyopia.
There was such a difference between the two eyes that normal conventional lenses would not suffice. Miss C,10 years old, was fast approaching the cut off period where we can improve a lazy eye. It is now only 9 months later, but not only has her vision improved, she has also developed stereosis/3D. Most importantly, we did this with NO PATCHING.
In the days of online shopping, think twice before ordering lenses for your children on the net or settling for cheaper two for one deals.
The analogy would be a cheap camera lens and an expensive camera lens can both take photos, however the quality of the image is what matters for our patients.
For us at Kiddies Eye Care, it’s about getting spectacles if required, using amazing lenses, and then hopefully getting our children out of glasses when we can, or at least minimum need.
Thanks Miss C for sharing your story and photo with us.
