HOW COVID HAS RESHAPED HOW WE’RE OPERATING

At Kiddies, our team are doing our very best to protect our patients as well as our staff. In order to provide a Kiddies-level of care to all patients (especially as we catch up on so much lost time!), please read below to understand how we are operating.

As usual, we are operating by appointment only, so if you require an appointment, please book a fitting time here.

As we are operating within quite a small space, we are taking all efforts to minimise the number of persons and families in our shop according to density limits encouraged by government guidelines. This may mean you will be asked to wait outside/in your car as we finish up with a family inside, and prepare for you to come in. If interactions can be contactless/at the door, we will operate in this way.

We appreciate your patience as we manage a busy period in the safest way possible, for your families as well as our Kiddies team.

If you are booked in to our clinic, we kindly ask that you do the following:

  • Please limit the number of persons attending the clinic, if possible. We request that only the child/children requiring the care are present (with no siblings) and only one parent attends the appointment. We ask that all other support persons, carers or drivers wait in the car.

  • You will be provided with hand sanitiser to sanitise your hands at the door and one of our staff members will take all persons’ temperature. Even if you have done this in the car or at home, we ask that you comply with this standard practice.

  • All patients in Grade 3 and above are required to wear a face mask in our clinic at all times, even during eye tests.

  • Please minimise the number of surfaces that you make contact with - benches, mirrors and frames. Please ask a staff member for assistance when selecting products.

  • Importantly, please DO NOT attend our clinic if you, your child or other family members have or develop any flu-like symptoms. This includes headaches, fever, runny nose, sore throat, muscle aches etc. Please contact us if you have an appointment and we will assist in rescheduling you to a better time.

If you do attend our clinic and soon find out that you have been diagnosed with or a close contact of someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, please let us know immediately so that we are able to take appropriate measures.

Please read below for further information on how we are running each different appointment type:

EYE TESTS

We are open now for routine care! This includes all review appointments, and we remain welcoming new patients also.

Please note the following:

  • Please ring us when you arrive for your appointment - we may ask that you wait in the car as we finish with other families and disinfect the clinic afterwards. If we do ask you to wait, we will ring you when we are ready!

  • Again, we implore that you only bring the child/children who are getting tested into the clinic, with one parent. We can organise to ring another parent or carer through the phone to listen to the consultation, however we can only have one adult in the room.

GLASSES FITTINGS

As per usual, you will receive a text message once your or your children’s glasses have arrived! To book an appointment to have these fitted, please find a time with one of our dispensers here.

Please note the following:

  • Please ring us when you arrive for your appointment - we may ask that you wait in the car as we finish with other families and disinfect the clinic afterwards. If we do ask you to wait, we will ring you when we are ready!

  • Again, we implore that you only bring yourself and the child/children who are getting their glasses fitted into the clinic, with one parent only.

GLASSES REPAIRS

We have decided to maintain our contactless glasses repair process, to get repairs done more efficiently and your children back into their glasses in no time! Please book a repair appointment to drop off your child’s glasses via this link here.

  • Once you have dropped your child’s glasses off, we will assess what the issue is and whether or not we have the parts available to conduct the repair. Please note, if we do need to order these in, it may take at least one business day for these to arrive and for our team to do the repair. We will endeavour to give you an ETA on your child’s repaired frame if this is the case.

  • We encourage that you email us at least one business day ahead of your repair appointment so we can organise for the parts to be in already, and make this process faster! Depending on how busy it is inside, we will endeavour to do this on the spot, however we may ask for you to return later in the day, if required and possible.

  • We will contact you when the repair is done.

In our efforts to minimise the number of people and families within our stores, we are operating our glasses repairs in a ‘contact-and-collect’ fashion.

CHOOSE GLASSES

Please note, we are operating by appointment only at the moment. Please book for an appointment to choose a pair of glasses via this link here:

  • Again, we kindly ask that you minimise the number of persons in the store from your family, and only bring the child who is getting their glasses.

  • We ask that, if possible, only one adult enters the clinic. We are happy to assist in video-calling a member of your family for a second opinion!

  • If you see a frame you are interested in, please ask one of our kind staff members to handle the frames for you; we are currently disinfecting all frames which are tried on.

We are happy to work through things on a case-by-case basis, however we kindly ask that you assist us in our efforts to protect our Kiddies community by complying with all of our policies. We appreciate your patience and kindness towards our staff as we do our best to keep everyone safe whilst operating efficiently, and delivering the same, Kiddies-level of care that you know and love.
